Scott Moncrieff Business Breakfast Seminars

This series of seminars is aimed at provided a discussion forum for professionals working within the Legal Finance sector to consider current and topical issues, through informal presentations and discussions. Margery presented “ What is good HR practice and why is it important now and for the future?” to a group of invited guests. After her presentation there was a healthy debate on the journey that many employees have been through over the past 18 months; the strategies that had been deployed to retain talent within firms and the challenges that still remained.

Topical issues discussed

There was consensus on the fine balance of aligning business strategies and employee engagement initiatives, despite good intentions and at times commercial imperatives. These tensions seem to have particular resonance in the professional services arena. There were no easy answers but the group shared ideas which included the effectiveness of competency frameworks to underpin meaningful performance reviews; the growth of staff communication forums; revision of policies to meet current expectations and circumstances and the necessity for robust contractual and procedural provisions.

Outcome

A tasty and hearty breakfast, much speculation about the outcome of the election and an interesting and varied discussion made for a good start to the day?
