In her first blog, Gravitate HR’s newest team member, Kelly MacSporran, tells us a bit about herself and reflects on her first week in the Edinburgh office.
With 13 years HR experience in the housing and education sectors I took a year away from HR to work in mental health – the experience was invaluable to me and I learned so much. With my contract coming to an end however, I knew that I wanted to get back into HR.
I was over the moon when Margery called to let me know that I had been successful. A job change is always a little daunting (along with meeting your new team) but I was made to feel so welcome on my first day, the team are so helpful and patient (they deserve a medal for putting up with me and all of my questions!). My tea making has been questionable, but I’m happy to say my coffee making skills are on a much higher level.
Being in a smaller office is great, the exposure is very different to that in a larger office and I am learning new things everyday just by listening to my colleagues getting on with their day-to-day. It feels good to get a couple of weeks under my belt before the Festive period and I’m really looking forward to 2018 in my new role here at Gravitate HR.
