Swine Flu Business Advice

Sarah Rogerson

Current Role

HR Consultant Gravitate HR

What Qualifications do you hold?

I graduated in 2003 with a BSC (Hons) in Psychology and am a member of the British Psychological Society.  I further graduated in 2006 with an MSc Human Resource Management and am a Chartered Member of the CIPD.

Why did you get into HR

While studying Psychology as my undergraduate degree I took an interest in Occupational Psychology.  Rather than specialising in that area I decided HR would be a good route to get generalist experience in many areas, so in the future I could specialise in Occupational Psychology with broad experience to apply to this role.

How did you get into HR

While working in the Executive Office at Standard Life Bank (SLB), I got exposure to different departments within the bank and an insight into the work of the HR team at SLB.  Once I finished my degree the HR Manager approached me and offered me a position in the HR team.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

I would like to consistently develop a strong generalist knowledge knowledge over the next 5 years, from getting experience in different sectors to work in a challenging and rewarding HR Role.

What is your biggest Career high so far?

Completing my Masters and submitting my dissertation.  I got exposure to applying HR practices within the legal industry while doing my work placement and dissertation with Dundas & Wilson.  In my current role, I would say the experience I have gained in case management, specifically on TUPE and Managing Redundancies this has been invaluable.
