About time I put out another Blog from our Gravitate HR Glasgow office I think! With Christmas and New Year a distant memory and January now behind us, I am keen to reflect on progress so far within our West of Scotland operation and look ahead to 2017.
Within Gravitate as a whole, we have had a very busy start to the year with new accounts coming on board, project work starting and we will launch our new website in the coming weeks which is keeping all hands to the pump!
I’ve said it in a number of posts/tweets/conversations but time really has flown since we set up at Mackintosh House in May 2016. Soon we will be celebrating a one-year anniversary and it is so far so good for the new office. Having met lots of new contacts and formed many strategic alliances during these first 8-9 months the work is beginning to flow in and our existing clients in the region are benefitting from the closer service.
I look forward to continuing to meet new people at networking events and fostering those connections within the business community.
It is nearly 6 months since Cameron joined as an HR Assistant and he has settled in very well. Cameron has been getting to grips with client work, attending networking events to help spread the Gravitate Glasgow word and is now half way through first year of his part time Masters in HR at Strathclyde University.
Speaking of Strathclyde University, since my return to Glasgow I have been rekindling my involvement with my undergrad university on a number of fronts. At the end of February I will give my second guest lecture to the Masters students of the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship. Although not something I had done before, I thoroughly enjoyed my first stint of guest lecturing back in November where I spoke to third year students on recruitment and selection from a practitioner perspective. This time I will be covering the employee lifecycle within an organisation which will be tough to condense into 1.5 hours!
I am pleased to be able to announce our first lunchtime seminar of 2017 “Planning for Success(ion) which will take place on 23rd March with James Kennedy of Two Factor Solutions. Clients and contacts are welcome along to a roundtable session where James and I will discuss the merits of succession planning at both ends of the spectrum. James will look at how organisations can build succession planning into their recruitment & selection methods to enable them to promote from within when more senior employees leave. I will provide some tips and information on how to handle the often-difficult conversations and processes to be had when employees who are entering the final years of their career look towards retirement.
If you would like to come along you can register here, we’d be delighted to welcome you along.
